Station Officer Sunil Sagar inhaled smoke while carrying out firefighting operations; he was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in a CATS ambulance, according to the Delhi Fire Services

A fire broke out at a godown behind Dharamshila Hospital near Kheda Dewat Mandir in East Delhi’s Dallupura on Sunday afternoon (September 13, 2026), sending a large cloud of black smoke into the Delhi skies and prompting an extensive firefighting operation.
Assistant Divisional Officer Ashok Kumar, who is overseeing the firefighting operation, said 35 fire tenders and more than 200 firefighters are currently engaged in dousing the blaze.
Meanwhile, Station Officer Sunil Sagar inhaled smoke while carrying out firefighting operations. He was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in a CATS ambulance, according to the Delhi Fire Services.
The fire broke out in a ground-floor warehouse spread over around 1,000 square yards. The tin-sheet structure housed plywood and PVC materials, which fuelled the blaze. A massive cloud of black smoke spread across the surrounding areas including New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi.
The Delhi Fire Services received a call about the blaze at 3.29 p.m. Four water tenders and a water bowser were initially rushed to the spot.
The Dallupura blaze is the second godown fire reported in Delhi on Sunday (September 13, 2026). Earlier in the day, a fire broke out at a godown storing rexine and cotton webbing in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar. Fifteen fire units were deployed, and the blaze was brought under control by 1.50 p.m. Six people from an adjacent house were injured in the incident.
As the firefighting operation continued in Dallupura, additional units were deployed. By 4.02 p.m., the total deployment had increased to eight water tenders, six water bowsers, a multipurpose vehicle and a quick response vehicle.
Preliminary information indicated that the Dallupura godown housed plywood and PVC material. No casualties have been reported so far, and firefighting operations were under way.
Dallupura is a residential area in East Delhi, located about 2.3 kilometers from the New Ashok Nagar metro station. The area has several local warehouses and godowns available for rent or lease, and commercial storage spaces
