Kathmandu: Nepal has declined offers from India, China, the US, UK, Japan, South Korea and Bangladesh to deploy specialised search-and-rescue teams following devastating floods in the country.
The Nepalese government said its own security agencies are capable of managing rescue operations and wants to maintain a single domestic command structure. The decision is also influenced by lessons from the 2015 earthquake, when the arrival of multiple foreign rescue teams created coordination and logistical challenges.
However, Nepal remains open to international humanitarian assistance, including financial aid, relief supplies and technical support.
