The 29-year-old actor, known for roles in Pandya Store and Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, was arrested from his Dahisar residence after a 16-year-old girl accused him of repeated harassment and a physical assault

Mumbai Police have arrested television actor Rohit Chandel after a 16-year-old girl accused him of stalking, harassing, and assaulting her in the city’s eastern suburbs. Chandel, known for playing Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store and Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, was taken into custody from his residence in Dahisar on Friday.
What the complaint alleges?
According to police, Chandel and the minor were known to each other prior to the incident. The complaint states that he repeatedly called her using his personal number as well as several other mobile numbers, leading to continuous harassment.
The situation escalated on July 5, when the girl alleged that Chandel confronted her near her residential building, chased her, picked an argument, used abusive language, and physically assaulted her by hitting her.
Charges and current status
Police registered a case against Chandel under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, given that the complainant is a minor. They also invoked Section 78 (stalking) and Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Chandel was produced before a special POCSO court, which remanded him to police custody for further investigation. Mumbai Police, led by the Pant Nagar station, have said the investigation is ongoing.
